GP to pay BTRC Tk 1,000 crore tomorrow
On February 23, Grameenphone paid the primary portion of Tk 1,000 crore following the Supreme Court's February 20 request.
As indicated by the SC request, GP has until May 30 to store the cash.
"They have reached us and said they will pay the total tomorrow," said BTRC Chairman Md Jahurul Haque.
GP, with more than 45 percent of membership piece of the pie, has offered no remark till this evening.
In January, Grameenphone needed to pay Tk 575 crore in 12 equivalent portions against the telecom controller's case of Tk 12,579.96 crore dictated by a review.
Yet, on November 24 a year ago, the SC requested Grameenphone to pay Tk 2,000 crore to the BTRC by February 23 this year.
The review, which investigated GP's books from its commencement in 1997 until 2014, asserted that the bearer owed the sum in income shares, charges and late expenses.
